NEJM iPad Edition

I'm looking forward to trying this on my iPad:

Introducing the NEJM iPad Edition

The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM.org) today announces its new iPad app, now available free for download in the iTunes App Store. The NEJM iPad Edition combines all content from the New England Journal of Medicine print issues with audio, share, search, and notation features in an integrated, easy-to-navigate format. This new app is the latest in a series of product enhancements and offerings from NEJM to create accessible, mobile solutions for today’s busy health care providers.

“Doctors don’t spend much time behind their desks. They are on the go, caring for patients,” says NEJM editor-in-chief, Jeffrey M. Drazen, M.D. “With the NEJM iPad Edition, relevant clinical information is right at our fingertips. Readers now have a way to carry multiple issues with them, make notes to share with colleagues, and show images in a meeting or on the floor of the hospital.”

The NEJM iPad Edition includes features that allow users to:
· Store downloaded issues in a personal library
· View figures and images in full screen and pinch/zoom to expand
· Listen to audio summaries of weekly issues and audio reads of Clinical Practice articles
· Capture and save article notes – and share via email
· Share articles via email, Facebook and Twitter

Individual NEJM subscribers receive free access to NEJM iPad Edition issues. All users can view a fully functional free issue, preview the table of contents for each issue and read Online First articles. From within the app, app-only subscriptions to the NEJM iPad Edition are available for $14.99 per month, and single issues are available for purchase for $5.99. App-only subscriptions do not include access to NEJM.org.

“We are pleased to offer this additional value to individual NEJM subscribers and to provide a new offering for non-subscribers,” says NEJM publisher Thomas J. Easley. “As physicians and other medical professionals change the way they engage with clinical and research content, we are available to them on multiple platforms, and are optimizing our own properties for the mobile web. This new app takes advantage of the iPad technology to deliver a truly enhanced reading experience.”

The NEJM iPad Edition joins the iPhone apps -NEJM This Week, NEJM Image Challenge, NEJM CareerCenter - all available now in the iTunes App Store.
